1963 – born in the town of Ochamchira, Abkhazia Region, Georgia 1984 – graduated from Giorgi Shervashidze Fine Arts College in Sukhumi 1989 – graduated from Tbilisi State Academy of Fine Arts 1990 – first personal exhibition, the Artists House, Tbilisi, Georgia 1993 – had to move with his family to Tbilisi from Sukhumi in a result of Abkhazian war; lives and works there until the present day 2000 – joined the Georgian Union of Artists 2002 – personal exhibition at the Nuclear Security State Committee in Prague, Czech Republic 2002 – personal exhibition at Le Siants Galerie, Prague 2005 – personal exhibition at the National Art Gallery, Tbilisi, Georgia 2006 – Forbidden Towns, personal exhibition in the American Embassy in Tbilisi 2008 – Children of War, group charity exhibition in Tbilisi 2008 – first prize in the Best Portrait of the Year competition, Tbilisi Since 2008 has been working as lector at the National Academy of Arts in Tbilisi 2009 – Artists from Sukhumi, group show at the Ars Gallery in Tbilisi Art fairs: Art Ireland, Dublin (2004-2009); Art Zurich International (2004); Art Edinburgh (2005-2008); Art Melbourne (2006); Affordable Art Fair, Paris (2008); Chelsea Art Fair, London (2009); Glasgow Art Fair (2009). Works of Eldar Kavshbaia can be found in numerous private and public collections all over the world, including the UN Office in Tbilisi, Georgian Embassies in Italy and Germany, Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, US Embassy in Tbilisi, David Karabadze Museum in Kutaisi, and the Batumi Fine Arts Museum. |
