Paulina Maksjan graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk with an honor diploma in 2008. She started painting at age of five, and has been successful in her painting since very early on. Paulina is a three-time scholar of the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. She also had a month-long scholarship in New York for her first place at the Academy of Fine Arts painting contest. She is also a member of the performing group Play that represented Poland at the eighth Biennalle for young artists from Europe and Mediterranean countries in Italy.
Paulina has held a numer of solo and group exhibitions in Poland and abroad. Among other places, she exhibited at the National Muzeum in Poznań and the Opatów Palace in Gdańsk. She made costumes for theatre plays, which had an influence on her works.
„Her agile and nimble hand turned every piece of paper, foil and cardboard into a drawing. Paulina paints with a sensual pain of a soul tormented by Egon Schiele and Toulouse Lautrec. Her art is a dance of pleasure and pain, that is her nature, that is her truth. She inherited Egon Schiele’s line, his spots of color and contours that are flat with a before-taste of space, expressionist erotisism are their shared and rare bravery of artists that talk about the most intimate facts of life. UPDATE! Unfortunately we are not coming to the Chelsea Art Fair this year due to problems with travelling to the UK and getting our artworks there in the current situation with the air transport in Europe.
